I started this blog to show everyone just how beautiful New Jersey can be. Sure, we have some ugly areas but most people don't realize just how gorgeous some parts of our state are. I'm no pro photographer but the recent purchase of a Canon T1i has sparked my long dormant love of photography. Hope you enjoy ;)

Sunrise in Sea Girt NJ - Easter Sunday
It was a beautiful sunrise in Sea Girt on Easter Sunday 2011. It started out hazy and cloudy but it turned out spectacular. Here's one of my favorite shots from the boardwalk. The original is stunning! Sorry I had to compress it for the upload :(

Ty Eating Ice Cream at the Califon Carnival
Califon hosts a fun little carnival every year around the fourth of July. The funnel cake is to-die-for and probably the only reason we go other than the great fireworks. The fireworks are always amazing and worth the trip. As you can see Ty doesn't like ice cream at all. :)

Tractor in the Barn, Northern New Jersey
A lot of people probably don't realize just how much farmland we actually have here in New Jersey. Some parts of Warren and Hunterdon Counties look more like Vermont than New Jersey. This blue Ford tractor looked like it wanted to come out to play. Reminded me of Johnny 5. Number 5 is alive.

Lackawanna Tower in Hoboken NJ B&W
I shot this from the ferry terminal in Hoboken. The original tower was damaged in a storm and removed in the 1950's. This clock tower was completed in 2007. It takes on an erie, almost ghostly look in b&w.Processed in PS using Topaz Adjust filter to desaturate and enhance details.

Come On Number 9
This is a stretch from my Blogs theme but I think horses are beautiful and I shot this at Monmouth Park in NJ. So I call it beautiful New Jersey. I'm not much for gambling but the track is a fun day out. Excellent photo opps. for both horses and people.

Bridge in Frenchtown NJ
I took this picture in late fall and most of the leaves had already fallen but the colors in the bridge are still striking. I'll return next year a little earlier and try to capture this bridge with some foliage in the background. Frenchtown is a neat little town with eclectic restaurants and shopping along the Delaware river in Hunterdon County. There's a parking lot next to the bridge with access to a great biking trail. The trail follows the Delaware River and it's well marked but best of all it's Beautiful New Jersey :)

Sunrise on Lifeguard Tower in Sea Girt, NJ
Early morning sun on a lifeguard tower in Sea Girt, New Jersey. Mornings like this make me feel happy and alive. The warm light on the tower from the rising sun has a nice contrast with the sky. Getting more comfortable with the camera and starting to use some post-processing software in PS. I used Topaz Adjust on this photo and love the results.
A special thanks to http://www.seagirter.com/ for featuring this picture on their site!

The Hunterdon Art Museum presents changing exhibitions of contemporary art and design in a nineteenth century stone mill that is on the National Register of Historic Places. In this unique setting, the museum, a landmark regional art center since 1952, shows work by established and emerging artists and offers a dynamic schedule of art classes for children and adults. Studio classes, workshops, gallery talks, and docent-led gallery tours are some of the educational programs the museum offers.

Beautiful Skylands NJ - Merrill Creek Hiking Trail
We hiked around the entire Merrill Creek Reservoir the other day. We took our time, took lots of photos and made it all the way around in about 3.5 hours. I took this picture on one of the many trails at Merrill Creek. This is a beautiful part of the New Jersey Skylands area. Take your kids or your dog and get outside in NJ.

Beautiful New Jersey - Balloon Festival
New Jersey balloon festival in Alexandria. We decided to get up early and catch the sunrise balloon lift-off at the Alexandria airport. The balloons were great but the parking was a mess. They directed us to park in a giant field and it had rained pretty hard the night before. People were getting stuck in the mud all over the place. Luckily we left early and although we didn't escape the mud we did make it out. Beautiful Hunterdon County New Jersey.

B&W of River in High Bridge, NJ
I took this black and white photograph in High Bridge, New Jersey while biking along the Columbia Trail. Shot with my Canon T1i, 18-55mm lens, in monochrome manual mode. There's something about black and white photographs that I just love.

It had rained earlier and the fields had this great fog over them. I took this photo right after sunset and the sky was perfect. Just a few clouds and warm tones. Beautiful Greenwich, NJ.

Beautiful New Jersey - Merrill Creek Resevoir
I took this photo at the Merrill Creek Resevoir in front of the bird blind. I'm no pro but in case you're wondering I shot this with my Canon T1i, 18-55mm lens, circular polarizer filter and I used a tripod. The filter darkened the shot but it also added some great depth to the clouds. New Jersey is beautiful, you just need to know where to look.
